the musings of early morning

Wouldn't a blog road map be interesting to see how we get to the blogs we read? It's certainly a bit of "one leading to another."

I have no idea how I got to a blog written by Cathy and called Morning Musings, (http://cathy-morningmusings.blogspot.com) but I'm so glad I did. I still remember my first visit. I was drawn in by a photo of a beautiful stone house that the blog author's family had rented for a weekend. It reminded me of the Pennsylvania stone that my grandfather used in the houses he built.

Next I remember noticing Cathy's doll rooms, I guess I'd call them. Sweet miniature rooms in a cabinet. And her own house filled with gracious antiques.

I recently won a "give away"on her blog. What a surprise and how much I'm enjoying The Country Diary Christmas Book (especially after reading her posts about it on her blog.) Thank you Cathy. I love how she included one of her hand painted gift tags.

I appreciate how Cathy shows vulnerability as she works on sketches and watercolors and shows her progress. She is persistent and her diligence is paying off.

Cathy's blogs (she has several) always provide interesting information. I follow with interest her meetings of the Maryland Chapter of the Tasha Tudor Museum Society that met in her home, her travels to interesting places, her art, her beautiful attention to detail in her blog I Come in the Little Thingsand now her posts about Beatrice Potter and her books.

On the subject of beauty, there are signs of spring around our house.
Winter may not be over, but for now spring is visiting.

  1. It's so nice how we "find" each other in the land of bloggers. I too follow Cathy and find her to be so interesting! I have read her writings for quite some time now and always enjoy what she is up to. Congratulations on your win, Dotsie! You have my heart when you post that beautiful photo of the English bluebells! I'm so happy we were able to see them in person! ♥

  2. Well, what a surprise, Dotsie! Thank you for your lovely, kind words. I think I found your blog first which led you to mine. As I remember it you did a post about the house you lived in as a caretaker which captured my attention. How I came across it I don't remember. You'd probably commented on a blog I was already visiting. I started reading Elizabeth Goudge because of you. Again, because one of her characters always seems to be a house. :-) And speaking of houses, what I'm doing right now is tidying mine up. I'm following Marie Kondon's "Spark Joy" book on how to go about it and I'm actually enJOYing clearing my house of clutter. Eventually, I hope to do a post about it, but it will probably be weeks before I finish this project (maybe even months!).

    1. Cathy - I am in the middle of her first book called "The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up" and oh my word my home is getting there cabinet by cabinet, drawer by drawer, room by room! It is taking me a while because time is rare these days, but each day I am conquering something somewhere. It feels GREAT!

I enjoy your blog too and Dotsie is a wonderful appreciate and happy winner of that giveaway book. : - )

    2. Thank you, Michele. I haven't read her first book, but have it on order from the library. I agree that it feels GREAT. However, the real test for me will be when I let the stuff actually leave the house. Right now it's spread out on tables in the basement for my kids to go through. What they don't want I'll take to a charity. This will be the difficult part. I'm much better at letting things go if I can see who is actually going to use it. I may have to hold a garage sale. I need a book that addresses this part of tidying up!

  6. I can't remember how I've met many of the bloggers I follow, a few through joining memes likely. Others by realizing we are attracted to women much like ourselves.
The book you won looks interesting and a mass of bluebells is pure eye candy.

  8. Hello! That sounds like a blog I would love. I will visit after I leave here. See...that is how I am going...land on Podso's, then take an immediate turn to the next one, the one you mentioned.
Yellow roses on previous post were stunning! And about mending...oh yes. Not only do I have my own in fair amounts, I get it brought to me by my Mom, my daughter's and friends. Keeps me out of trouble!

  9. I enjoy her blog too and don't get there often enough! (Or anywhere it seems these days.)

Congrats on your win, sweet friend!

Snowed all day today but didn't stay- just would melt once it hit the ground. Looking forward to spring as well.

    Hugs! ♥

  10. I can't remember how I got to your blog, possibly through Vee's card party. I've not visited Cathy's blog, but I'll try to get over there this weekend. It's always fun to find like-minded bloggers, as well as those who open new avenues of thought and creativity to us.

  11. I used Pondside's blog to roadmap here, and so pleased I did.
One moment of the year which I always look forward to is entering a bluebell wood, you were fortunate to catch them whilst you were over. This year I plan to find some clifftop bluebells - fingers crossed.

  12. I like the idea of a blog map! How much fun that would be to travel, to see all the places we've been over the past years and see all of the paths we've crossed. Somehow, I think I'll remember, but then I don't. (I think that Vee has connected many of us!) I do know that Blogland is a rich and fascinating place. I have learned so much!

  13. Congratulations on winning the giveaway, and the blog map is a fun idea. When I pray for bloggers, I picture them on a map, actually. It helps me to know where people are located. When I first saw the bluebells, It thought you were going to tell us that they were in your backyard! We did have temps in the high 50s yesterdays, and it was such a sweet taste of spring. Now we're back to normal, but having been given a renewed sense of hope.
