surprised by snow

Well, not real snow.
I've seen these sweet snowy jars all over and decided I needed to make some.
I love jars anyway, and candles too.
I got my supplies, set it all up, and was done in five minutes or less.
Just that easy.
Paint the jars generously with Decopage. Place epsom salts in a pie tin and roll
the jars in the salt until covered. Let dry for up to a day.
Decorate with twine and whatever you have to add to the twine.
I wasn't totally happy with what I used, but it was what I had on hand.
Put in a little tea light and it makes a great decoration or hostess gift, etc.
Just know you don't want to handle it too much as it will shed a little snow!
I'll show you more of how I used them on a table later this week.

  2. A pretty craft ! They remind me of Christmas as a child. My mom would always have a large snowy candle with a scene on it. She didn't make them or anything and probably got them in the local five and dime but I recall the advent candle tradition and your pretties reminded me of them! :)

  8. The snow covered jars look very nice Dotsie, and with a tea light inside create a magical wintry display. I read epsom salts as an item to make the jars and it jogged my memory that I'm out of them and will have to buy more. I use them around woody shrubs and roses in the spring garden.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

  9. I love candles. The addition of something to make the light glitter is the icing on the cake, so to speak. What a great idea! Looking forward to seeing what you did with them.

  10. This is a great idea! Especially since I already have epsom salt on hand. But I don't have the stuff for decopage, so I googled "homemade decopage" and found out you can use elmer's glue watered down (half and half).
