Which one is different?

Returning home from a three-week road trip to even warmer climates,
we noticed a change in the air. The intense heat is gone and temperatures
are much cooler at night, while still warming in the daytime. Rain has finally come,
and the leaves are starting to turn. Autumn has never felt more welcome.
My thoughts turn to pumpkin scones,
apple pie, acorn squash, white chili, sweet potato soup
… and I'm sure you can name other favorites.

This mosaic from an autumn market I visited
makes me think of little worksheets I used to make pre-schoolers.
"Which one doesn't belong in this group?"

  1. Love you fall mosaic. I made a roasted butternut squash soup at the weekend, it was delicious, one of my must have autumn recipes.
    Happy Mosaic Monday.

  3. I agree that it is fall! Our temps have been too high for October, but they will be cooling down.

  4. I'm sure it's good to be home! Even when your trip is lovely, it always feels so good to be home.

Autumn. (Insert a happy sigh . . . ) All of your favorites sound yummy! I am intrigued with your sweet potato soup. I have never seen that, but it sounds like something I would like. A favorite at our house is vegetable beef soup. I'll make that this weekend for our October birthday celebration (my dad's request).

  6. Oh, I love your mosaic, Dotsie! :D Yes, fall is most welcome here. I have to tell you though; it was so hot and humid here yesterday that the windows in our house fogged up. Crazy, crazy weather. I am really hoping this most recent rain will cool things down to more normal temperatures for October. All of your recipes sound wonderful, Dotsie -- love, love this time of year.

    Have a lovely day!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  7. Apples may not be squashes, but they taste lovely in a roasted squash and apple soup! I'm glad the weather is cooling for you. We enjoyed pumpkin pie and sweet potato casserole for our dinner yesterday. Today will be leftovers! Hooray! Have a great week.

  10. I think I could put all of those to good use! Ha! Soup and more soup! One of my favorite things about Fall -- apple everything. Send some of your cool here. Still setting heat records. I'm tired! Happy Monday!

  16. But the apples make such a nice contrast in color! When I read your comment about the weather I was wishing it was a couple of weeks ago. Where did that nice fall air go to? Is it terribly humid and super muggy in your neck of the woods currently? Oh my...it's terrible here! Fall, WHERE ARE YOU??
